In the Acıpayam district of Denizli, one of the two workers trapped in a cave-in at a chrome mine was rescued 25 hours later. It was reported that the workers had not been extracted due to ongoing landslides in the area. Speaking on the matter, the district governor Ramazan Cankaloğlu stated, "There is no deterioration in their health."
Yesterday at 3:30 PM, a collapse occurred in the chrome mine operated by the Kromtaş company in the Karaismailler neighborhood of Acıpayam district in Denizli. In the collapse, which happened for an undetermined reason 20 meters inside the entrance of the mine, Beyağaçlı Hüseyin Turan and Ömer Duran, who resides in the village where the mine is located, were trapped.
1 OF 2 WORKERS RESCUED AFTER 25 HOURS
While contact was established both visually and audibly with the 2 workers trapped in the mine collapse, efforts by AFAD, UMKE, gendarmerie, health, and fire brigade teams to rescue the workers are ongoing. After 25 hours, Ömer Duran was rescued from the two workers.
THEY CANNOT BE EXTRACTED DUE TO LANDSLIDES
It was learned that the teams reached the workers as a result of intense efforts, but due to ongoing landslides in the mine, the workers could not be extracted from where they were trapped. In the search and rescue operations, conducted with great care considering the safety of the trapped workers, the soil accumulations caused by the collapse are being removed with trucks.
THE RACE AGAINST TIME CONTINUES
While it is reported that the workers do not have life-threatening conditions, the race against time continues for their rescue, and the anxious wait in the region continues. An investigation has been initiated regarding the incident.
"THERE IS NO DETERIORATING CONDITION IN THEIR HEALTH"
In statements regarding the issue, Acıpayam District Governor Ramazan Cankaloğlu said that the teams' work is ongoing. He stated that they have been in contact from the very beginning to safely extract the trapped workers, saying, "Our teams have been communicating from the very beginning. Currently, there is no deteriorating condition in their health. We hope to extract our friends in a short time. For now, one of our friends is buried up to his knees, and the other is buried up to his waist. When we remove the rock on one friend's leg, we will also be able to extract the other by removing the materials in front of him." he stated.
Cankaloğlu, who stated that the investigation is ongoing, said, "Since the incident is still fresh, we need to extract the friends safely first. Therefore, after the investigation by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, necessary closure penalties will be imposed, and inspection and monitoring activities will continue at the scene." he said.

A miner participating in the rescue operations said, "We established contact with our colleagues trapped under the collapse both visually and audibly. We are conducting our operations with great care, ensuring the safety of both those participating in the rescue efforts and our brothers trapped under the collapse. We are trying to safely extract them. We hope to complete our operations within a few hours." he said.
