President Erdoğan stated regarding President Trump's invitation to him to the Gaza Council, "Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will participate on behalf of Turkey."
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan responded to the offer from U.S. President Donald Trump to be a founding member of the Peace Council, which will oversee security and the reconstruction process in Gaza.
President Erdoğan stated that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan would represent Turkey in the council.
BAHÇELİ SAID "THE CHAIRMAN OF THE COUNCIL SHOULD BE ERDOĞAN"
Speaking at the MHP group meeting held yesterday (January 20), MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli made a call to the world, stating that the head of peace is Turkey, and its head is President Erdoğan, and that Erdoğan should be the chairman of the council.
Bahçeli used the following expressions in his speech: "We are addressing our esteemed nation. Turkey's President should be Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. I entrust you all to Almighty God. I say one last sentence: I call out to everyone in the world, especially America; the founding head of peace in the Palestine and Gaza issue should be Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and whoever wants to join can join afterward. The head of peace is Turkey, and its head is the President. We say bring it on. Thank you, stay well."
TRUMP HAD INVITED TO THE GAZA COUNCIL
Communications Director Duran, who shared President Trump's offer to President Erdoğan to be a founding member of the Gaza Council with the public, used the following statements:
"The United Nations Security Council, with its resolution 2803, has decided to support the 'Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict' announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.
In this regard, the Peace Council and relevant structures will be established to ensure security and stability in Gaza and to be responsible for the reconstruction process.
U.S. President Donald Trump, on January 16, 2026, sent a letter as the founding chairman, inviting our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to join the Peace Council as a founding member."
