In Hatay, it was claimed that beds, blankets, and other aid sent by AFAD for distribution to earthquake victims were being used in a massage parlor. The Hatay Governorship denied the allegation, stating, "The claims reported in the news are unfounded and do not reflect the truth."
In Hatay, where the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş caused great destruction, it was claimed that the aid sent for the earthquake victims was used for purposes other than intended.
In an incident brought to the agenda by Cumhuriyet writer Murat Ağırel, it was alleged that beds, blankets, and other materials that were supposed to be distributed to the earthquake victims by AFAD were used in a massage parlor in the Altınözü district of Hatay.

In a statement from the Hatay Governorship, it was noted that "During the administrative inspection and judicial search conducted by our Governorship at the massage parlor mentioned in the news, no materials belonging to AFAD were found. The claims in the news are unfounded and do not reflect the truth. Searches and seizure operations were carried out at the workplace, residence, warehouse, and container of the public official identified as A.Z., against whom an investigation for misappropriation has been initiated. The seized materials have been handed over to the personnel assigned by the AFAD Provincial Directorate. It is announced that the relevant individual has been suspended from duty and that administrative and judicial investigations are ongoing."
