Russia suspended the sale of 64.5 million bottles of Jermuk brand mineral water from Armenia after detecting health violations. The decision followed previous restrictions on imports of flowers, vegetables, and fruits from Yerevan.
The Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) has taken restrictive measures regarding mineral water of the "Jermuk" brand originating from Armenia.
SALES SUSPENDED
In a statement from the agency, it was noted that violations harmful to health were detected in the said mineral waters, stating, "Rospotrebnadzor has sent instructions to relevant authorities to suspend the sale of 64.5 million units of mineral water produced by Armenia-based Jermuk on Russian territory."
ALSO RESTRICTED IMPORTS OF FLOWERS, VEGETABLES, AND FRUITS
Russia had imposed temporary restrictions on imports of flowers from Armenia on May 22 and on imports of vegetables and fruits on May 28. Recently, mutual critical statements between Russian and Armenian officials have drawn attention.
