In Sivas, 13-year-old hafiz Muhammet Hamza Türkoğlu was assaulted by an individual at the mosque where he went to read the Quran. Türkoğlu described the horror he experienced, saying, "He was singing a folk song while shouting inside the mosque. He said, 'What are you looking at?' Then he got up from his seat and kicked me while choking me."
In the Şarkışla district of Sivas, 13-year-old hafiz Muhammet Hamza Türkoğlu went to the Grand Mosque to read the Quran. According to allegations, İbrahim Ethem Aydın, who was in the mosque, assaulted the 13-year-old boy by saying, "What are you looking at?" The incident ended with the intervention of the mosque congregation, while the events were captured by security cameras second by second.
"HE CHOKED ME AND KICKED ME"
Describing the incident, Muhammet Hamza Türkoğlu said, "I entered the mosque and sat down. The man who assaulted me was singing a folk song while shouting inside the mosque. I got up to hang my coat. He was listening to something on his phone. He said, 'What are you looking at?' Then he got up from where he was sitting, choked me, and kicked me. The mosque congregation intervened," he said.
"WE FILED A COMPLAINT"
Expressing that they filed a complaint against the assailant, father Mehmet Türkoğlu stated, "The assaulted person is both my son and my hafiz student. As a hafiz Quran course, we assigned our students to read the Quran during the month of Ramadan. When my son went to the Grand Mosque of Şarkışla to read the Quran, an unknown person insulted my son and cursed at him. He choked my child and assaulted him by kicking. We obtained a medical report and filed a complaint," he said.
