Following the attack, the Syrian army dispatched reinforcement units consisting of hundreds of vehicles, including tanks, armored personnel carriers, and multiple rocket launchers, to the provinces of Latakia and Tartus, and launched operations to capture elements of the ousted regime in the region. During the operations, at least 50 security personnel were killed, while international media and social media reported that some armed groups targeted numerous civilians in the area.
PRESIDENT SHARA'S WARNING
Syrian President Ahmed Shara stated that the elements of the ousted regime were trying to test themselves in the attack on March 6, conveyed a message of unity and solidarity, expressed their desire to rebuild the country, and stated that they had no intention of shedding blood. After congratulating the security forces in the region for their rapid interventions and performance against the elements of the ousted regime, Shara noted: "I emphasize that no one should allow excesses and disproportionate reactions among the security forces, and I say that they should work to prevent this. What separates us from our enemies is our commitment to our principles. The moment we abandon our morals, we descend to the same level as our enemies. The remnants of the fallen regime are pursuing a provocation; this provocation aims to create a situation that will benefit them by leading to excesses."
