While the implementation of the integration agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF is expected, a scandalous move came from the terrorist organization. It has been learned that the PKK/YPG terrorist organization has insisted on names that have participated in armed attacks against the Turkish Armed Forces and the Syrian National Army for years as personnel to be integrated into the Syrian state structure, coming from the Qandil line and ideologically linked to the PKK. One of the names it has nominated for the Deputy Ministry of Defense has already become a topic of controversy.
While the integration agreement reached between the Syrian government and the SDF is expected to be implemented as of today, developments on the ground indicate that the process is far from stable. According to security sources, the terrorist organization PKK/YPG is deliberately taking steps to sabotage the agreement instead of implementing it.
NAMES THAT HAVE ATTACKED THE TSK ARE ON THE LIST
Sources indicate that the PKK/YPG openly challenges the integration process with the names it has presented to the Damascus government. It is stated that the organization is imposing names that have participated in armed attacks against the Turkish Armed Forces and the Syrian National Army for years, and that are ideologically linked to the PKK, coming from the Qandil line.
BEDRAN ÇİYAKURD IS ALSO ON THE LIST
It has been reported that one of the names nominated by the PKK/YPG for the Deputy Minister of Defense is Bedran Çiyakurd, who is prominent in the Qandil wing and known for his closeness to Cemil Bayık. According to security records, Çiyakurd has participated in many armed actions against Turkey in the past, and therefore, the likelihood of the Damascus government accepting this name is considered extremely low. Nureddin İsa (Abu Omar Hanika), who was proposed for the governorship of Hasakah, is also among the notable candidates. It is known that a large part of İsa's family is in the ranks of the PKK and that he has participated in conflicts against the TSK and the SNA for many years. The nomination of this name, which is prominent for its closeness to Mazlum Abdi, has made the organization's approach to the agreement controversial.
THE NAME THEY WILL NOMINATE IS ALSO CONTROVERSIAL
Another development that has emerged in the process is the new candidate information leaked by PKK/SDF sources. Accordingly, the so-called "autonomous administration" plans to nominate Azad Simi, code-named Çiya Kobani, for the Deputy Minister of Defense of Syria. Security records reveal that Simi is the planner and executor of many actions, including the 2007 Dağlıca raid, the 2008 Aktütün attack, and the 2011 Çukurca attack, in which a total of 104 soldiers were martyred. Simi, who is wanted by the chief public prosecutors of Van, Hakkari, and Şırnak, is said to be at the head of the KCK's Syrian structure and currently responsible for the so-called intelligence unit of the SDF. It is assessed that the imposition of such an openly terrorist figure on Damascus reflects the PKK/YPG's goal of controlling the state structure from within rather than integration.
AGGRESSIVE ATTITUDE CONTINUES
Despite the agreement, it is reported that the aggressive attitude on the ground continues. Security sources stated that some SDF elements attempted to attack the Syrian army yesterday, and since there were no casualties, the incident did not reflect in the public eye. The fact that the organization has had to step back from its demands also indicates that the process is stuck. Initially, the PYD, which demanded a corps, agreed to three regiments and then to three battalions in response to reactions, but it is stated that this withdrawal did not change the provocative attitude on the ground.
The activities of the PKK/YPG in Hasakah and its surroundings reveal that the integration is not being implemented in practice. It has been reported that organization elements have taken over schools in Arab villages, placed snipers in buildings, and continued arbitrary detentions. In the last 24 hours, many civilians have been detained on the grounds of social media posts, and Genç Ahmed el-Muhammed was arrested after a raid on his home, while a civilian named Talal el-Omar from the village of Ararour in the rural area of Rmeilan was also detained. Additionally, information was shared that tanks and armored vehicles were being deployed to the southern entrances of Hasakah.
THEY ARE CHASING PROVOCATION
All these developments indicate that the start of the integration process carries serious risks. Security circles emphasize that the PKK/YPG is deliberately blocking the process, trying to create a ground for conflict with provocations, and that the ceasefire could be broken at any moment. It is assessed that if the Damascus government does not accept names with clear terrorist backgrounds, the tension on the ground could quickly escalate into hot conflict.
