In Aydın, the CHP-led district municipalities have decided to terminate the funeral and burial services they have been providing since 2014. These services will only be carried out by the municipalities governed by the AK Party.
After the decision to accept the proposal of the CHP group regarding the transfer of funeral and burial services from district municipalities in the Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Council, Buharkent Mayor Mehmet Erol stated that funeral and burial services would only be provided by AK Party municipalities in Aydın.

Buharkent Mayor Mehmet Erol made statements regarding the decision to transfer funeral and burial services from district municipalities. Mayor Erol used the following expressions:
"In the session held today in the Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Council, the proposal submitted by the CHP municipalities to transfer funeral and burial services to the Aydın Metropolitan Municipality was accepted, citing that it is costly and an economic burden, despite the fact that it is also a legal duty of the district municipalities according to the second paragraph of Article 7 of the Metropolitan Law No. 5216. This decision clearly shows that the CHP municipalities have not been able to fulfill even the most basic and sensitive duty that they should have undertaken for years, and that they have avoided responsibility even in the painful days of citizens. This mentality, which cannot demonstrate the will to govern, has preferred to shift the responsibility instead of producing services, leaving its citizens alone in the most difficult times.

As Buharkent Municipality, we have been by the side of our fellow citizens in every moment of life for 11 years, including in painful days. We have provided uninterrupted and meticulous service to our citizens in all processes, from cemetery maintenance to grave opening and burial procedures, and we will continue to do so. In the same council meeting, as the AK Party group, we once again strongly expressed our will to continue this service in our districts. Because as the AK Party, we see cemetery and burial services not as a cost and economic burden, but as the most fundamental service of humanity and municipalism. Our proposal, which states that we are ready to take on the responsibility that the CHP municipalities have avoided, has been accepted. From now on, funeral and burial services in Aydın will only be carried out by AK Party municipalities. In other words, on one side, there is an understanding that avoids service and cannot even carry out the most basic municipal duty, and on the other side, there are AK Party municipalities that see it as their duty to shoulder the pain of citizens and do not hesitate to produce services. Our fellow citizens in Aydın can be at ease. Today, the AK Party municipalities will fill the void left by the CHP, and will not leave our citizens alone. Just as we did yesterday, we will continue to stand by our nation today and tomorrow."
