According to the European Commission's 2025 Schengen visa statistics, applications from Turkey increased by 8% to over 1.26 million, while the rejection rate remained at 14.6%. Among the countries imposing the highest rejection rates on Turkish citizens, Malta, Poland, and Sweden top the list, while Greece was the country granting the most visas.

According to the 2025 Schengen visa statistics published by the European Commission, Schengen visa applications from Turkey increased by approximately 8 percent compared to the previous year, yet there was no significant change in the rejection rate.

ONE IN EVERY 7 SCHENGEN APPLICATIONS WAS REJECTED

According to the data, Schengen visa applications from Turkey rose from 1,173,917 in 2024 to 1,268,376 in 2025. Despite this, the rejection rate was 14.54 percent in 2024 and 14.59 percent in 2025.

Approximately one in every seven Schengen applications made by Turkish citizens was rejected. In 2025, 183,196 applications were denied, while 1,072,054 applications received visas. In the previous year, 170,129 applications had been rejected.

COUNTRIES WITH THE HIGHEST REJECTION RATES FOR TURKISH CITIZENS REVEALED

According to data from Schengen representations in Turkey, Malta ranked first among the countries with the highest rejection rates for Turkish citizens.

In 2025, the rejection rates were as follows: "Malta: 34.8 percent, Poland: 29.3 percent, Sweden: 26.5 percent, Norway: 24.7 percent, Finland: 21.2 percent, Germany: 21.1 percent, Denmark: 19.2 percent."

The data revealed that rejection rates in Northern European countries and some Central European countries were significantly above the Turkish average.

MOST VISAS FROM NEIGHBORING COUNTRY

The country where Turkish citizens applied most frequently and received the most visas was Greece. In 2025, 310,920 applications were made to Greece's representations in Turkey, with 276,959 of them resulting positively. Greece's rejection rate was recorded at 10.7 percent. Greece was followed by Germany, France, and the Netherlands.

Increase in multiple-entry visas The number of multiple-entry Schengen visas granted to Turkish citizens also increased. While 645,583 multiple-entry visas were issued in 2024, this number rose to 736,556 in 2025. Thus, approximately 69 percent of the visas issued were multiple-entry visas.

According to 2025 Schengen data, Turkey remained the second country with the most applications to the Schengen area after China. While the number of applications from Turkey exceeded 1.26 million, the rejection rate remaining almost unchanged compared to the previous year continued to fuel debates regarding access to Schengen visas.
