After the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Istanbul, the news that students were waiting for has arrived. Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin announced that schools in Istanbul will be closed for 2 days due to the earthquake. It was also stated that public sector employees who are disabled, pregnant, disabled veterans, and mothers with children under the age of 10 will be considered on administrative leave. Universities will also be closed for 2 days.
İstanbul was shaken by a severe earthquake. An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 occurred in the Marmara Sea off the coast of Silivri at 12:49. The depth of the earthquake was reported to be 6.92 kilometers, and the strong tremor was felt in all districts of Istanbul as well as in surrounding provinces.

Following the alarming earthquake, a decision regarding schools was made. Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin announced that schools in Istanbul would be closed for two days due to the earthquake.
SCHOOLS CLOSED FOR TWO DAYS DUE TO EARTHQUAKE
Minister Tekin stated in a social media post: "So far, there have been no serious negative incidents in our schools following the earthquake that occurred in Istanbul and was felt in surrounding provinces. In line with the need for safe areas, our schoolyards are open for the use of all our citizens. In cooperation with our other relevant institutions, we have decided to close our schools in Istanbul on Thursday and Friday. We wish our entire nation a speedy recovery."
UNIVERSITIES ALSO CLOSED
Additionally, the news that university students were waiting for has also arrived. Universities in the megacity were also closed for two days.
EMPLOYEES WITH DISABILITIES, PREGNANT WOMEN, VETERANS, AND MOTHERS WITH CHILDREN IN PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS ARE ALSO ON LEAVE
Furthermore, it was announced that employees with disabilities, pregnant women, disabled veterans, and mothers with children under the age of 10 working in public institutions would be considered on administrative leave during this period without the need for any further action. It was noted that personnel working in health and safety units are excluded from this scope.
