The Denizli Provincial Police Department's Public Order Branch teams have initiated an operation against an organized crime group that defrauds citizens by posting fake escort ads on websites.
THEY TOOK THE MONEY AND DID NOT SHOW UP FOR THE MEETING
The police determined that women who posted escort ads on websites or social media accounts asked those who called them to send money to their bank accounts from ATMs under pretexts such as 'pre-meeting' and 'guarantee', but they did not go to the meeting.
THEY HAVE COLLECTED APPROXIMATELY 12 MILLION LIRA FROM 35 PEOPLE
It was determined that the suspects who committed fraud in this way also called the people they defrauded, introduced themselves as lawyers, and scared them by saying that a lawsuit would be filed against them for not showing up for the meeting with the escort, thus defrauding them a second time. It was found that the suspects collected a total of approximately 12 million lira from 35 people using this method.
IN THE FIRST OPERATION, 17 OF THE SUSPECTS WERE ARRESTED
After identifying the organization leaders and members, the police conducted a simultaneous operation on July 5 in Istanbul, Tekirdağ, Antalya, Aydın, and Osmaniye, centered in Denizli, following technical and physical surveillance. A total of 22 people, including 5 women, were taken into custody during the operation. While 17 of the suspects were arrested, 5 were released under judicial control.
13 ARRESTS IN THE SECOND WAVE OPERATION
A second wave operation was conducted against the crime organization the other day. During the operation, 13 more people, including 5 women, were taken into custody. After their procedures at the police station, 9 of the suspects were arrested while 4 were released under judicial control. Thus, the total number of arrests in both operations rose to 26.
