10 PEOPLE HAVE DIED
As a result of the building collapses, 10 people have lost their lives, and 45 others have been injured. In a statement made by the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), it was reported that the casualties occurred in the cities of Jhelum, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Sialkot, and Mianwali. In the provincial capital Lahore, many areas experienced fallen trees, and numerous homes, shops, and vehicles were damaged. The PDMA announced that financial assistance would be provided to the families of the deceased.
PLANE WAS UNABLE TO LAND
A flight numbered FL-842 belonging to a private airline, which took off from Karachi to Lahore, encountered the storm during landing. Due to severe turbulence, the plane was unable to land and had to ascend again, safely returning to Karachi. Passengers experienced great panic due to the turbulence during the landing attempt.
Emergency intervention instructions were issued
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz declared a state of emergency. Chief Minister Nawaz also instructed officials to take emergency intervention measures regarding the affected areas.
