In Üsküdar, Istanbul, a woman who is a mother of two poured hot oil on her husband while she was lying on him during an argument. The man, who suffered serious burns on his body, passed away 13 days later in the hospital where he was being treated. The woman, who was arrested and sent to prison, stated in her police testimony that her husband had been drinking alcohol for a long time and had been violent towards her.
A 44-year-old woman, a mother of two, burned her husband by pouring hot oil on him while he was sleeping after an argument in Üsküdar. The man, whose body was severely burned, passed away 13 days later in the hospital where he was being treated. The woman was arrested by the court she was brought before.
The incident occurred on the evening of October 15 in the Ünalan neighborhood of Üsküdar. According to allegations, an argument broke out between Zeynep G. (44) and her 53-year-old husband Sinan G. After a while, Sinan G. went to the bedroom and fell asleep. His wife Zeynep G. took the oil she had heated in the kitchen and poured it over her sleeping husband.
DIED 13 DAYS LATER
Upon hearing the cries of the severely injured Sinan G., the children in the house woke up from their sleep. Police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification. Sinan G., who had serious burns on his body, was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Sinan G. was treated in the hospital for 13 days but passed away on October 28 despite all the doctors' interventions.
SHE WAS SAID TO HAVE BEEN DRINKING AND ABUSING
After the incident, police teams detained Zeynep G. In her statement at the police station, the woman stated that her husband had been drinking alcohol for a long time and had been abusive towards her. She was arrested by the court she was brought before and sent to prison. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
"HE WAS A VERY GOOD PERSON"
Serhat Nalbantoğlu, who said he was a neighbor of the deceased Sinan G. and a tradesman in the street where the incident took place, stated, "He was our neighbor, a person we loved very much, may God rest his soul. We are still in shock from the incident; we were neighbors and colleagues. We used to eat our meals together and help each other with our work. He was a very good person, loved by the community, and we are very saddened. A person cannot be punished in such a way."
