The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) responded to claims that Syrian military students would serve in the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK). The ministry stated that the students are in Turkey solely for educational purposes, saying, "The guest students who complete their training return to their countries."

STATEMENT FROM MSB

MSB published a written statement regarding the claims in some media outlets that "Syrian military students will serve in the TSK." In the statement, the ministry said, "Our ministry conducts training and consultancy activities within the framework of agreements signed with many friendly and allied countries. In this context, foreign military students receive training in our country for certain periods and return to their countries after completing their training."

STUDENTS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES HAVE ALSO RECEIVED TRAINING

MSB announced that between 2016 and 2025, 3,016 guest military students from 39 different countries have received training in various military schools in Turkey. These countries include the USA, the Balkans, Africa, Turkish States, Europe, and Far Eastern countries. The statement noted that Syrian students are also receiving training within the framework of the "Joint Training and Consultancy Memorandum of Understanding" at the National Defense University (MSÜ), stating that "It is not possible for these individuals to serve in the ranks of the Turkish Armed Forces."

WARNING TO CITIZENS

Finally, MSB made the following warning: "It is strongly requested that the public does not give credence to unfounded claims aimed at misleading the public, targeting our institutions, and creating a negative perception."
