In Eyüpsultan, Istanbul, the family of 17-year-old unlicensed driver Timur Cihantimur, who caused the death of Oğuz Murat Aci and fled to the USA with his mother Eylem Tok, prepared report after report to exonerate their son. In an incident that has wounded the conscience of all Turkey, it was first stated that Oğuz Murat Aci was "75% at fault." In the report, Cihantimur, who fled abroad after informing his family instead of notifying the health teams, was found to be "25% at fault." "9 MINUTES IS A LONG TIME"After the report, which was not accepted by the public conscience, the Cihantimur family prepared another report, this time blaming the ambulances. According to a report by TV 100, the following statements were included in the latest report: "By examining the records in the file, it is understood that the accident occurred at 23:20, and that the emergency call system present in the vehicle was activated, automatically calling 112, and that the coordinates of the accident site were communicated to the 112 center in Ankara first, and then to Istanbul. As of 23:29, it is understood that Istanbul 112 was informed about the accident and that ambulances, police, and firefighters were notified. At this stage, there is a 9-minute interval between the notification of the e-call system and Istanbul 112 informing the ambulances, police, and firefighters. According to accepted standards, this is a long time." THIS TIME THEY BLAMED THE AMBULANCESIn the report, which indicated that Cihantimur's fleeing from the scene was not the issue, it was stated that the arrival times of the ambulances at the scene and the hospital were shown as negligence. "It is seen that the ambulances were dispatched 13, 13, 14, 19, 20, and 36 minutes after the accident, respectively. According to accepted standards, this is a very long time. However, the 'Police Incident Report' included in the file contains extremely superficial information, and it is not clear from this list which ambulances were dispatched, which ambulance took which patient, and to which hospital they were taken. The patient reached the hospital 81 minutes after the accident. Considering the traffic situation at the time of the accident, the location of the hospital, and the time of the incident, this duration is deemed unacceptably long," it was stated. "AS THE TIME FOR AMBULANCE ARRIVAL INCREASED IN THE USA, THE MORTALITY RATE IN ACCIDENTS INCREASED"In the report prepared by Cihantimur's family, who is being tried in the USA, examples of accidents in the USA were cited. The report stated, "In a study examining traffic accidents that occurred in 2268 settlements in the United States, it was reported that as the time for the ambulance to reach the scene increased, the mortality rates after traffic accidents increased. Ambulance intervention times can affect morbidity and mortality among patients in critical situations, especially those in the 'first hour five' category." "POLICE AND FIRE TEAMS WERE ALSO BLAMED"In the report that mentioned the cause of Oğuz Murat Aci's death, the police and fire teams that arrived at the scene were also blamed. In the report submitted to the court, it was stated, "It is established that the deceased died as a result of bleeding from his left leg. The treatment of external bleeding in a leg is quite simple. It can be easily applied by any person. It is expected that especially those who have received first aid training (firefighters, police) know and apply this. For these stated reasons, it can be said that the death resulting from the venous bleeding in the leg below the knee could have been a preventable death if the correct interventions had been made." The trial of the Cihantimur family continues in the USA. WHAT HAPPENED?On March 1 in Eyüpsultan, one of the three ATVs in motion broke down, and while the broken vehicle was being repaired on the roadside, one of the two vehicles moving in the same direction crashed into the three ATVs, resulting in the death of Oğuz Murat Aci among the five injured. It was determined that the 17-year-old driver Timur Cihantimur, who caused the accident, fled the scene with his mother Eylem Tok in her vehicle and first went to Egypt and then to the USA. A temporary arrest request document for the extradition of the suspects was sent by the Ministry of Justice to the relevant authorities in the USA, and Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç announced on his social media account that Cihantimur and his mother Tok had been arrested by the court in Boston.
