In the evening hours in Tokat, the snowfall turned the roads into an ice rink. A passenger bus, losing control on the slippery surface caused by the snow, crashed into a truck loaded with iron that was traveling in front of it. In the accident, where a life-and-death situation occurred, 7 passengers on the bus were injured, and transportation in the area came to a standstill.
The snowfall that was effective in Tokat brought a chain reaction of danger in the evening hours. As a result of a passenger bus losing control on the slippery road and crashing into a truck from behind, 7 passengers were injured.
CRASHED INTO A TRUCK LOADED WITH IRON
The accident occurred in the evening hours at the Kızıliniş location on the Tokat–Sivas highway. The passenger bus with license plate 60 BD 891, belonging to the Topcan company and driven by H.Ö., crashed into a truck loaded with iron that was moving ahead due to the slippery road caused by heavy snowfall.
The out-of-control bus hit the rear of the trailer of the iron-loaded truck with license plate 55 BLC 53. As a result of the impact, some passengers were trapped between the bus and the truck.
PASSENGERS RESCUED BY AFAD AND FIRE BRIGADE TEAMS
Upon notification, AFAD, Tokat Municipality fire brigade teams, and medical personnel were dispatched to the scene. With the meticulous work of the teams, the trapped passengers were rescued and handed over to the medical teams.
7 INJURED TAKEN TO HOSPITAL
The 7 passengers injured in the accident were taken to various hospitals in Tokat by ambulances after the first intervention at the scene. It was learned that the health conditions of the injured were being monitored.
ACCIDENT MOMENT CAPTURED ON CELL PHONE CAMERA
Meanwhile, the accident was recorded by a passenger in a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction at the scene with a cell phone camera. The footage included the moments immediately after the accident and the intervention of the teams.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the accident and warned drivers to be cautious against snowfall and icing.
