The President of AKOM, Ergün Cebeci, shared snowfall predictions for Istanbul. According to Cebeci, snowfall is expected in Istanbul from the beginning of January until mid-February.

According to a statement from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), a "Winter Preparation Works and Evaluation Meeting" was held at the Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) in Eyüpsultan.

Ergün Cebeci, the Head of the Disaster Affairs and Risk Management Department, shared long-term weather forecasts during his speech at the meeting.

HE INDICATED JANUARY FOR SNOWFALL

Cebeci stated, "The rainfall in December will be within seasonal norms. Temperatures are expected to drop to winter values in the last week of December. The most likely period for snowfall is anticipated to be from the beginning of January to mid-February. March is expected to be relatively mild and rainy."

During the meeting, İBB's preparations for transportation, salt, and other measures to combat winter conditions were discussed.

HOW WILL THE WEATHER BE TODAY?

According to forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology, the general weather in our country is expected to be partly cloudy with occasional very cloudy conditions, while the northeastern part of Eastern Anatolia, as well as the regions of Rize, Artvin, Muş, Bitlis, and Van, are expected to experience rainfall.

It is anticipated that the precipitation will be in the form of rain and showers in coastal areas, rain mixed with snow in inland areas, and snowfall in higher elevations. Fog and occasional mist are expected in the mornings and evenings in the Marmara, Aegean, Central Anatolia, the inner parts of the Black Sea, Eastern Anatolia, and the northern part of Southeastern Anatolia.

Temperature: It is expected that air temperatures will increase by 1-3 degrees in the western regions, with no significant changes in other areas.

Wind: Generally southerly winds are expected, with light to moderate winds occasionally blowing from the north in the Mediterranean and Southeastern Anatolia regions.
