President Erdoğan has taken action regarding discussions on hobby gardens and traffic fines that concern millions. A new regulation has been initiated for the two critical topics that were brought up at the MKYK meeting. Erdoğan has instructed the relevant ministries to ensure that citizens are not victimized.

During the meeting of the Central Decision and Management Board (MKYK) of the AK Party, new steps regarding the hobby garden regulations that have caused discussions in the public and traffic fines were put on the table. It was stated that the topics discussed in the meeting directly concern millions of citizens.

HOBBY GARDEN REGULATIONS AFFECT 7 MILLION PEOPLE

The existing regulation regarding hobby gardens, which is said to concern approximately 7 million people, became one of the most striking topics of the meeting. Ankara Deputy Osman Gökçek expressed that if the current application is implemented, many structures could be demolished, which could lead to serious social consequences.

"CITIZENS WILL NOT BE VICTIMIZED"

It was learned that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan listened to the different opinions expressed at the meeting and instructed the relevant ministers to reconsider the regulation in line with the sensitivities that arose. It was stated that Erdoğan particularly emphasized that citizens should not be victimized in the upcoming works.

TRAFFIC FINES ARE ALSO ON THE AGENDA

Not only hobby gardens but also regulations regarding the increase of traffic fines were brought up in the meeting. While it was evaluated that a new study should be conducted regarding the practices that have caused public debate, it was reported that instructions were also given to the relevant ministries on this matter.

PREPARATIONS FOR A NEW REGULATION BEGIN

In statements regarding the issue, former AK Party deputy Şamil Tayyar said, "Let me give you two important pieces of news. We have had two important discussion topics for a while:

1/The question of whether the unlicensed small-scale garden houses known as hobby gardens, which concern about 7 million people, will be demolished.

2/The heavy penalties and practices introduced by the new Traffic Law.

I heard that our President has addressed both issues and requested a new regulation. Let me start with the first one. In today’s MKYK meeting of the AK Party, the issue of hobby gardens was brought up by Ankara Deputy Osman Gökçek. Gökçek stated that thousands of people would be victimized if the current regulation is applied, saying that there would be a heavy political price to pay. The Minister of Agriculture also provided information about the regulation. Following this, our President requested that a new preparation be made by the Minister of Environment Murat Kurum, Minister of Agriculture İbrahim Yumaklı, and AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler, under the chairmanship of his Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz. As for the second issue, it was discussed in the MYK meeting, and the reactions in the public were evaluated. Our President subsequently requested the Ministry of Interior to conduct a new study." he said.
