Spain Arrests PKK Terrorist Sought By Interpol

09.10.2019 17:54

Spanish police detain most wanted PKK terrorist on Interpol's red notice on Turkey's request.

Spanish police arrested a most-wanted PKK terrorist on the Interpol's red notice list by request of Turkey.

Nasir Tur, a member of the PKK, was arrested during his vacation in a hotel room in southern Spain's Granada province.

According to local press reports, Spanish police busted the terrorist, 57, on Tuesday at 8.30 a.m., local time (0630GMT).

After the legal process in Spain, Turkey must provide documents within 40 days to the Spanish authorities required for the terrorist's extradition.

Spanish police are also alarmed due to the location of the arrest, as the country's prime minister Pedro Sanchez was to attend a meeting in the same hotel.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of some 40,000 people, including women, children and infants. The YPG is the Syrian branch of the terrorist PKK.
