Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin announced a new decision that prohibits events such as weddings, engagements, henna nights, and military send-offs from being held in open areas. Şahin stated, "It is not anyone's right to turn the streets into wedding halls. We will no longer allow events that disrupt traffic, disturb public order, and create noise pollution. In Antalya, such organizations can only be held in wedding halls or in areas designated by municipalities. Everyone needs to adapt to city life," he said.

STREET WEDDINGS PROHIBITED IN ANTALYA

Before the February Security and Safety Information Meeting, Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin announced that a new decision had been made regarding the increasing street weddings as the wedding season approaches. Governor Şahin stated that restrictions have been placed on organizing events such as weddings, engagements, henna nights, military send-offs, and mevlid ceremonies in open areas throughout Antalya. He emphasized that street weddings negatively affect traffic flow and hinder the arrival of ambulances, fire trucks, and security teams.

"CAN BE HELD IN WEDDING HALLS"

Şahin also expressed that noise pollution has received numerous complaints from citizens, causing distress for the elderly, patients, babies, and students. He stated, "Acts such as closing the road to traffic and making noise until late hours disturb the peace and tranquility of individuals. To prevent noise pollution and protect public health, it has been decided by our governor's office that such events will be held in wedding halls or in areas designated by the municipality; they will not be allowed in streets, parks, and other public areas," he said.

"DECISION WILL BE ENFORCED YEAR-ROUND"

Governor Şahin indicated that those who do not comply with this decision will face legal action under the Turkish Penal Code, the Highway Traffic Law, the Provincial Administration Law, and the Misdemeanor Law. He stated, "We will conduct inspections on this matter rigorously. Citizens who wish to hold such events in Antalya can do so in designated areas. Streets, parks, and public areas are reserved for citizens, and weddings and similar organizations will not be permitted in these areas. This decision is not seasonal; it will be enforced throughout the year," he expressed.

"EVERYONE SHOULD ADAPT TO CITY LIFE"

Şahin pointed out that turning streets into wedding halls is against the law, stating, "Municipalities can designate areas for such events. These organizations can be held by placing sound barriers or in existing private wedding halls. Just like in the rest of the world, in Turkey and in Antalya, everyone needs to adapt to city life," he said.

Şahin noted that penalties for noise pollution are determined by the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, and that closing roads will also result in legal sanctions. He mentioned that such events can be held in designated public areas in rural areas, stating, "Funeral homes, schoolyards, or unused school buildings can be considered suitable areas for such organizations." He also reminded that new legal regulations regarding issues such as firing into the air and fights occurring after traffic accidents are on the agenda, stating, "When these come into effect, the enforcement will be monitored even more strictly," he expressed.
