In the magazine Bahane, the behind-the-scenes of the art world was discussed. Burhan Akdağ's statement, "İbrahim Tatlıses is a lone gunman when it comes to cutting people off," drew attention, while Hakan Solaker fueled the debate with his remarks, "He cuts everyone off, there's no mercy. He doesn't care about brothers or sisters." Gökay Kalaycıoğlu likened the competition in the art world to "palace intrigues."
In this week's episode of Magazin Bahane, broadcast on Haberler.com, the behind-the-scenes of the art world was discussed. In the program moderated by Gökay Kalaycıoğlu, Hakan Solaker and journalist Burhan Akdağ made striking evaluations based on the question, "who blocked whom?"
At the beginning of the conversation, the rivalry between two giants of Turkish art music, Bülent Ersoy and Zeki Müren, was brought to the agenda. While discussing the long-standing claims that "Zeki Müren blocked Bülent Ersoy's career," Burhan Akdağ stated that Müren did not intentionally hinder any artist's career. However, it was noted that Ersoy had remained in Müren's shadow for a period and faced significant obstacles in her career due to the stage ban imposed during Kenan Evren's era. It was also emphasized that with the lifting of the ban, Ersoy's "diva" identity strengthened.
"PRICE AND KARMA?"
Gökay Kalaycıoğlu highlighted all these struggles in the art world and posed the question, "Now, you are giving at least two major examples of people we think are blocking others or are thought to be mobbing someone. And these people have always been tested with their health in common. Do you think they are paying a price or karma? I mean, regardless of what happens, the power somehow blocks someone in that art music, or arabesque, or folk music, whoever it is, who is blocking someone, tripping someone, or preventing someone from growing, are they paying a price related to their health?"
Burhan Akdağ responded to this question by saying, "You are in this realm, if you have made some mistakes, everything has a price." He expressed that achieving success in the art world is possible not only through talent but also through competition, bans, and heavy prices.
"İBRAHİM TATLISES IS THE ONLY ONE BLOCKING"
The most heated part of the program was about İbrahim Tatlıses. Burhan Akdağ made a striking claim about Tatlıses, stating, "İbrahim Tatlıses is the only one blocking in Turkey, in my opinion. He blocks everyone." Hakan Solaker supported this comment by saying, "He blocks everyone. There is no forgiveness, he doesn't care about brotherhood." Akdağ strengthened his claim with examples from Tatlıses's brother Hüseyin Tatlı, Mahsun Kırmızıgül, Derya Tuna, and the oriental dancer Asena.
THEY WOULD IMITATE TATLISES' VOICE
As the discussions continued, the agenda shifted to the Iranian young artist Seccad Mehmedi, who emerged during Tatlıses's illness. Burhan Akdağ stated that Seccad's voice closely resembled Tatlıses's, saying, "They were going to use Seccad's voice to make İbrahim's songs sung by him. An album was going to be made as if İbrahim was singing. This was completely a fake job." However, he noted that this project did not come to fruition. Thus, it was claimed that İbrahim Tatlıses also blocked Seccad, who has a voice similar to his own. This episode of Magazin Bahane once again revealed the intrigues behind the stage lights in the art world, the power struggles, and the prices artists pay.
PALACE INTRIGUES CONTINUE IN THE ART WORLD
At this point, Gökay Kalaycıoğlu interjected, likening the struggles in the art world to palace intrigues: "If we were to generalize, gentlemen, it is not much different from what I said at the opening. Palace intrigues continue in the art world. Some sit on the throne, becoming sultans or emperors. For instance, if Sezen Aksu is the queen of pop music, she can have her victims, or if Ebru Gündeş is at the peak of her field, she can have her victims. If Bülent Ersoy became a diva, she defeated Zeki Müren, or Zeki Müren's path was opened due to health problems, but later she implemented something herself. In other words, those at the top always end up sacrificing someone.
