Striking statement from Erdoğan: Our door is open to them.

The German Chancellor Scholz and President Erdoğan met in Istanbul. After the meeting, Scholz and Erdoğan held a joint press conference in front of the cameras. In Erdoğan's statements, the issue of Israel spreading the war from Gaza to Lebanon took an important place. Criticizing Israel's policy of spreading the war, Erdoğan stated, "Israel, in Netanyahu's mindset, has a very clear understanding of not just keeping this war within a certain circle, but of spreading it." While continuing his statements, Erdoğan used striking expressions regarding the civilian population wanting to escape from Syria and Lebanon.

"WE WILL CONTINUE OUR CONSCIENTIOUS STANCE FROM NOW ON"

In the joint press conference he held with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the Dolmabahçe Office, Erdoğan stated, "The genocide that Israel is applying in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as the attacks in Lebanon, were another important topic we addressed. Unfortunately, the humanitarian drama in the region continues. As I have expressed many times before, it is essential for the international community to do everything we can to urgently establish a permanent ceasefire, deliver humanitarian aid, and create the necessary pressure on Israel." Erdoğan emphasized that as long as the massacres in Palestine and Lebanon continue, it is impossible for the region and beyond to find peace. Pointing out that more than 50,000 people have died in the region, Erdoğan said, "We expect all political actors with conscience and foresight to take initiative and say 'stop' to Israel's aggressive policies. As Turkey, we will continue our conscientious stance that we have maintained since day one." he stated.

"OUR DOOR IS OPEN TO THEM"

President Erdoğan responded to a journalist's question regarding the issue of migration as follows:

"It is beneficial for me to say this clearly and unequivocally. As you know, approximately 4 million refugees initially came to us from Syria. Currently, there are about 3.5 million Syrian refugees in our country. We are currently hosting them in our country, and during Mrs. Merkel's term, we worked together to provide all kinds of support for them. As of now, our door has always been open to the refugees coming from Syria, and it is still open. Especially during such a time of war, if there are those who can come to Turkey from there, including from Lebanon, we have kept our door open for them as well. Especially now, there are significantly many Turkmen in Lebanon, and we will also accept these Turkmen compatriots into our country. I have said that we keep our door open for them, and I am saying it again. Our door is open to them."
