The heavy rainfall in Rize has caused floods, inundations, and landslides. Two bungalows, built carelessly by the stream along the Ayder Plateau road in the Çamlıhemşin district, were swept away by the flood while they were empty.
RIVERS HAVE REACHED CRITICAL LEVELS
According to a statement from the AFAD Rize Provincial Directorate, the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours was recorded in İkizdere with 161.8 millimeters. In Fındıklı, the river levels rose to critical points due to 75 kilograms of rainfall per square meter, and 15 families were evacuated as a precaution.
ROADS HAVE BEEN CLOSED TO TRAFFIC
In the city, the main roads of 26 out of 343 villages have been closed to traffic due to floods, inundations, and landslides, while teams continue their work on culvert and road cleaning with heavy machinery.
NO LOSS OF LIFE
Authorities reported that the empty bungalows were swept away by the flood, and there were no casualties, but the flood caused serious damage in the area.
