American actor Jason Momoa experienced a near-drowning incident during a surfing trip in Hawaii in 2007. He recounted that after being separated from his board in the massive waves, he waited for a long time to be rescued, and the only thought that came to his mind was of his 3-month-old daughter. Just as he was about to give up, a friend noticed him.
American actor Jason Momoa, years later, recounted the danger he experienced in Hawaii during his vacation in 2007. While surfing off the coast of Maui, Momoa faced a near-drowning situation, describing it as "the hardest moment of my life."
Speaking on the SmartLess podcast, the 46-year-old actor said, "We were paddling about 13 miles along the coast. At the seventh mile, my connection was lost. We were almost a mile off the shore, and the wind in Maui is very strong."
COLLAPSED THINKING OF HIS DAUGHTER
Struggling among the giant waves, Momoa stated, "I was waving my paddle, but no one could see me. At that moment, I thought of my daughter, who was only 3 months old at the time. I lost myself."
Stating that he couldn't move his arms and legs due to exhaustion, the actor said, "My body stopped, and I started to sink. When my finger touched the reef, I had given up."
HIS FRIEND BROUGHT HIM BACK TO LIFE
Just when he thought everything was over, a friend noticed him. They tried to get back on their boards and return to shore, but they fell into the water again due to the strong waves. They still had 7 miles ahead of them. Momoa described that day as a moment he narrowly escaped death, saying, "I was covered in blood, and I was out of strength."
