US President Donald Trump announced that his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin was successful. Trump, who announced that Russia would gradually supply millions of tons of diesel fuel to the US and global markets, stated that an initial shipment of 300,000 tons would be made. The US administration, meanwhile, temporarily lifted sanctions on the sale, delivery, and import of Russian-origin diesel fuel until April 7, 2027.
Following the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Putin, notable developments took place in the energy sector. While it was announced that Russia would supply millions of tons of diesel fuel, the US decided on a temporary exemption in sanctions on Russian diesel.
TRUMP FOUND HIS MEETING WITH PUTIN SUCCESSFUL
US President Donald Trump made statements concerning the energy markets after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Assessing the meeting as successful, Trump reported that Russia would supply a significant amount of diesel fuel to the US and international markets. According to the schedule announced by Trump, Russia will immediately put 300,000 tons of diesel fuel on the market in the first stage. This amount is planned to be gradually increased in the coming months.
MILLIONS OF TONS OF DIESEL SUPPLY FROM RUSSIA
Trump explained Russia's plan regarding diesel fuel shipments with the following words: "I had a very successful meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Russia will immediately supply 300,000 tons of diesel fuel to the US and global market. In November, it will supply 500,000 tons, then 1 million tons more fuel. After that, depending on the condition of diesel refineries, it will provide 3 million tons more diesel within a short period"
According to the announced schedule, the first supply of 300,000 tons will be followed by a new shipment of 500,000 tons in November. Then 1 million tons more diesel will be supplied. In the final stage, depending on the condition of the refineries, an additional supply of 3 million tons will be carried out. If all the amounts announced by Trump are realized, total diesel supply will reach 4 million 800 thousand tons.
US TEMPORARILY LIFTED SANCTIONS ON RUSSIAN DIESEL
After US President Donald Trump's meeting with Putin, a significant change was also announced in the US sanctions on diesel fuel of Russian origin. The US temporarily lifted sanctions on the sale, delivery, and import of diesel fuel of Russian origin until April 7, 2027.
