Beşiktaş Club's Divan Assembly President Tevfik Yamantürk announced that he has stepped down from his position.
In a statement he made on his social media account, Yamantürk said, "I have decided to leave the position of BJK Divan Assembly Presidency today, after proudly serving for 8 years. I had previously announced to the public that I would not run for the presidency of the divan assembly again, 1.5 years before the divan assembly election. I sincerely wish the new president and management of this glorious and honorable position the best of success, in the interest of Beşiktaş and to maintain my impartiality."
Stating that he has held the presidency of the divan assembly for 8 years, Yamantürk noted:
"My journey of serving Beşiktaş began under the management of Süleyman Seba as the youngest vice president in our history. I proudly held the presidency of the divan assembly of Beşiktaş, which is one of the oldest civil society organizations of the Republic of Turkey and our first major sports club, for 8 years. On this occasion, I once again reaffirm my belief in the past and future of our club, and I express my gratitude to the divan members who have shown their support since day one, to my colleagues in the divan assembly who have always been by my side, to all our managers, athletes, and the great Beşiktaş community."
The election for the presidency of the divan assembly at Beşiktaş was planned to be held in September or October.
