The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency (UKMTO) stated that a violent explosion took place near a tanker sailing approximately 37 kilometers northeast of Khasab, Oman.

Following the incident, which raised suspicion of an attack attempt, it was noted that the ship and all crew members were safe. UKMTO warned vessels in the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious incidents.
