The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Abdulqadir Husariyye, announced that a new series of 6 banknotes without images or symbols will be issued to modernize the national currency. Husariyye emphasized that the new banknotes will replace the old and worn-out currency currently in circulation.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Abdulqadir Husariyye, stated in an interview with Syria's official news agency SANA that the new banknotes will come in different sizes: small, medium, and large.
6 NEW BANKNOTE SERIES WILL BE ISSUED
Husariyye expressed that 6 new banknote series without images and symbols will be issued to modernize the national currency, stating, "The new banknotes are designed to facilitate verification and have been prepared in accordance with international standards."
WILL REPLACE OLD AND WORN-OUT CURRENCIES
Husariyye noted that all details regarding the banknotes will be shared with the public after the printing and distribution process is completed, emphasizing that the new banknotes will replace the old and worn-out currencies in circulation but will not increase the total money supply.
Husariyye stated, "This is a step towards modernization; it does not aim to expand the money supply, but is a targeted monetary policy for regulating liquidity in the money market and ensuring price stability. We will implement this."
