Tension arose in the area with the closure of the hall entrances before the hearing of Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma cancellation case, and a scuffle broke out between the spectators and the gendarmerie.
The trial before the Istanbul 5th Administrative Court regarding the cancellation of Ekrem İmamoğlu's university diploma, who was removed from the position of Mayor of Istanbul, experienced tension in Silivri before the hearing.
SCUFFLE BROKE OUT
After the courtroom was closed to admissions, a scuffle broke out between those who wanted to follow the hearing and the gendarmerie teams. CHP Ankara Deputy Sibel Suiçmez and Istanbul Deputy Ali Gökçek reacted to the situation.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED SO FAR?
The first development regarding the diploma case of Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is detained in Silivri as part of an ongoing corruption investigation, occurred on March 18 last year. The bachelor's degrees of Ekrem İmamoğlu and 28 others were canceled by Istanbul University. İmamoğlu had transferred from Girne American University in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to Istanbul University in 1990. He graduated from the English Business Department of Istanbul University in 1994. By 2017, Ekrem İmamoğlu had completed his master's thesis at the Istanbul University Institute of Social Sciences.
HE WAS ARRESTED ON MARCH 23
The Istanbul University Board of Directors cited the claim of irregular horizontal transfer in 1990 as the reason for its decision made last year. The day after this decision, Ekrem İmamoğlu was detained and arrested on March 23 as part of the investigation initiated due to corruption allegations against him. İmamoğlu's lawyers filed a lawsuit against the diploma cancellation on May 6. The court had written a letter to Istanbul University requesting the documents that were the basis for the cancellation decision. During this process, Ekrem İmamoğlu's master's diploma was also canceled.
