Tension is escalating! İmamoğlu to Minister Tunç: I pointed my finger at you, not the judiciary.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu responded to Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç, who said "No one can threaten the judiciary, no one can wag their finger at the judiciary" by saying "I did not wag my finger at the judiciary, I wagged it at you. I wagged my finger at government members like you who influence and put pressure on the judiciary, leaving it in a difficult position. That finger is not mine, it belongs to the people."

About the "Foolish Case" in which a political ban is requested, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç had responded to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's statement "The Court of Appeal should decide immediately. If it is going to give a sentence, it should do it right away. The Court of Appeal should give a sentence about me, so that the government cannot see the day of the decision by the Court of Cassation. This nation will rise up. I challenge you." Minister Tunç had reacted to İmamoğlu's words by saying "No one can point a finger at the judiciary."

"I POINTED THAT FINGER AT YOU"

While the polemic between the two continues, İmamoğlu made another statement from his side. İmamoğlu, who said "I did not point a finger at the judiciary, I pointed it at you," included the following statements: "I pointed a finger at those who influence the judiciary, the members of the government like you. That finger is not mine, it is the finger of the people. Its place is the ballot box, and you will have to go to the ballot box. You will have to leave before the Court of Cassation makes a decision."

"IT HURTS ONE'S SOUL"

In continuation of his words, İmamoğlu reminded of the process in the foolish case and said, "The minister (Süleyman Soylu) who insulted me, after I responded to him, filed a criminal complaint against me. And that case is still pending in court. Why? Because they are waiting for the result in the Court of Appeal, they are writing letters. Why? The minister says 'he said it to me.' The other court says 'he claimed that he said it to the members of the Supreme Election Board.' The court says 'make a decision so that I can put the case opened by the minister into effect.' In other words, if the Court of Appeal decides in our favor, we will also have a confrontation with the minister in the case he opened against me for returning his insult. They should just let us confront each other. I have filed a lawsuit, the minister said 'fool' to me. The court had already declared that case null and void at that time, saying 'the minister has immunity.' Just talking about this court hurts one's soul," he said.
