A fire broke out in a private nursing home in Antalya when the air conditioner exploded. While the residents of the nursing home were being evacuated by the fire brigade, 3 people were affected by the smoke.

ALARMS STARTED RINGING WITH THE EXPLOSION OF THE AIR CONDITIONER

The fire broke out on the 1st floor of a 5-storey private nursing home located on 836th Street in Toros Neighborhood, which is connected to the Konyaaltı district, around 18:00, with the explosion of the air conditioner. The employees who noticed the fire alarm in the nursing home reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center.

Upon the report, numerous police, fire brigade, and health teams were dispatched to the area. While the fire brigade quickly brought the fire under control in the nursing home, Yüksel Çankaya, Kerim Güven, and Ahmet Şükrü Peker, who were affected by the smoke, were evacuated from their rooms and taken to the hospital. The other residents of the nursing home were also evacuated by the teams. After being examined by the health teams, the individuals were placed back in their rooms.

"IT WAS MY TURN TO SLEEP WHEN THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED"

86-year-old Ali Yıldız, who stays in the nursing home, said, "I was about to sleep. Suddenly, I woke up. I went downstairs and saw that this incident had happened. Fortunately, I am not injured."

Gülbahar Bal, the 58-year-old daughter of Ali Yıldız, who came to visit her father, said, "The alarm went off. I was in the bathroom. I told my father that the fire alarm was ringing and that we needed to go outside. After that, the staff on duty came. I took my father and took him out. Some people were affected by the fire. My father's friends were also affected. I am very upset."
