Search efforts continue uninterrupted on the fourth day for 17-year-old shepherd Okan Koç, who was swept away by the current while entering the Aras River to cool off in the Horasan district of Erzurum.
No news has been received for four days from 17-year-old Okan Koç, who disappeared in the Aras River while trying to cool off in Khorasan. AFAD, JAK, and SAK teams continue search operations along the river.
Over 100 specialist personnel deployed from Erzurum and Kars are racing against time, conducting operations from land, air, and underwater across the riverbed and surrounding wide area.
HE ENTERED THE RIVER TO COOL OFF
The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 10, around 15:30, near the Akkeran (Hiran) Hamlet area of Pirali District, Horasan. According to information obtained, 17-year-old Okan Koç, who was grazing animals in the region, entered the Aras River to cool off due to the hot weather. After a while, the young man disappeared from sight in an area with strong currents, and no further news was received.
TEAMS MOBILIZED
It was reported that AFAD, Jandarma Search and Rescue (JAK), and Underwater Search and Rescue (SAK) teams are conducting uninterrupted search efforts in the region. Teams are carrying out extensive work along the river to reach Okan Koç.
