In a hearing related to an armed fight in Bursa, Tolga Ergün's father shot and killed two people with a firearm as a result of the fight that left his son disabled. It was reported that the man, who fired 7-8 shots with a gun he took from under his son's wheelchair, was heard telling his relatives before the attack, "I entrust him to you," while pointing to his son.
On September 23, 2023, during the second hearing of the case regarding a gunfight that occurred at an entertainment venue in a shopping center in the Odunluk neighborhood of Nilüfer district in Bursa, a shooting incident took place.
Mertcan Akça (26), who was arrested after being caught in a taxi with a fake identity 128 days after injuring waiters Tolga Ergün (21) and Yiğit Selçuk (30) and security officer Efendi Doğan (45) with a gun, and Köksal Akça, who was issued an arrest warrant for allegedly being involved in the incident and was arrested in the courtroom during the first hearing on the charge of 'participating in his son's actions', are being tried for 'attempted murder' with a request for up to 15 years in prison. The second hearing was attended by the detained defendants, complainants, their relatives, and the lawyers of the parties.
HE BROUGHT THE GUN INSIDE WITH HIS SON'S WHEELCHAIR
Mertcan Akça's lawyer, Gürkan Altun, requested the presiding judge to withdraw from the case, citing 'procedural violations'. While the lawyer was speaking, Kemal Ergün, the father of Tolga Ergün, who became disabled after the armed fight in 2023, pulled out a gun from under his son's wheelchair and fired 7-8 shots at the detained defendants Mertcan Akça and his father Köksal Akça while cursing at them. It was heard that Ergün pointed to his son Tolga and said to his relatives, "I entrust him to you" before the attack.
THEY HID UNDER THE CHAIRS
While a great panic occurred in the courtroom, which had about 30 people, lawyers and journalists following the hearing took cover under the chairs to protect themselves. The father and son, who were hit by bullets, collapsed to the ground in a pool of blood. The attacker and his son were removed from the hall by police teams.
DEFENDANT FATHER AND SON DIED, 2 GENDARMES INJURED
While police and gendarmerie teams in the building intervened in the incident, additional teams and many ambulances were dispatched to the Bursa Courthouse. During the health teams' examination, it was determined that the detained defendants Mertcan Akça and his father Köksal Akça had died. It was also learned that the condition of the two gendarmerie personnel who were injured by the bullets remained serious.
HEARINGS POSTPONED
After the incident, the courthouse was evacuated, and the hearings were postponed. Kemal Ergün, who carried out the armed attack, was taken into custody, and an investigation was initiated by the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
