The author, screenwriter, and critic Selim İleri has passed away. Selim İleri, who is among the important figures of Turkish literature, was 75 years old. WHO IS SELİM İLERİ?Selim İleri, the son of scientist Professor Hilmi İleri, was born on April 30, 1949, in Istanbul. İleri graduated from Atatürk High School in 1968 and dropped out of Istanbul University Faculty of Law. At the age of 19, his first short story book titled "Saturday Loneliness" was published. He published his first article in 1967 in the magazine Yeni Ufuklar. In 1998, he was awarded the title of State Artist by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The author, who successfully reflects the rich inner world of the individual in his novels and stories, also highlights the communication breakdowns between individuals in his early works. For many years, he wrote articles in the "Writing Room" section of the culture and arts page of Cumhuriyet newspaper. The author, who has produced many programs for radio and television, also hosts the program "From Selim İleri's Notebook," which started in the middle of 2008. The program, broadcast live every Sunday, is presented by TRT-2. Additionally, since 2008, he has been writing articles related to Istanbul in the Saturday supplement of Zaman Newspaper.
