The biographical film that was set to bring the legendary figure of Turkish music, Barış Manço, to the big screen has been canceled. The project, which was to star Ekin Koç in the lead role, has been shelved due to high production costs and the challenges of shooting abroad.
One of the unforgettable names of Turkish music, Barış Manço, who is etched in memory with songs like "Gülpembe," "Dağlar Dağlar," "Unutamadım," and "Arkadaşım Eşek," has had the film project that will tell his life canceled. The lead role in the film, which was to bring the life of the master artist to the big screen, was to be played by young actor Ekin Koç. However, it has been revealed that the film project has been shelved due to the challenges of a high-budget production.
In statements regarding the cancellation of the project, Ekin Koç noted that he was not surprised by the situation. Koç said, "Honestly, I wasn't very surprised; it was a very costly project. Covering Barış Manço's life from the 1960s to the 1990s was quite challenging in terms of production. The need for foreign shooting locations like Belgium and France also made things even more difficult. It took courage to realize such a large project. For now, it seems to be shelved, but perhaps in the future, if more suitable conditions arise, it may come back to the agenda." he stated.
