The incident occurred in the Zeytinli neighborhood of the Seyhan district. Beekeeper İlhami Özden began to care for the bees while wearing his protective clothing. During the care, İlhami Özden, who was stung on his left pinky finger by a bee and had an allergy to bees, collapsed shortly after. Nearby citizens reported the situation to the health teams. The health teams that arrived at the scene determined that Özden had died.
Upon notification from the health teams, gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. After the gendarmerie conducted their investigation, Özden's body was taken to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institution morgue for autopsy.
