The extensive drug operation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office expanded with the messages resolved on the phone of a social media influencer; television presenters Ela Rumeysa Cebeci, Meltem Acet, and Hande Sarıoğlu were also included in the process.
The drug operation carried out under the coordination of the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command has created a seismic effect in the art and media world. New connections were reached through a detailed examination of the digital materials seized in previous operations, and the scope of the investigation was expanded.
THE KEY NAME OF THE OPERATION
According to a report by Sabah, the examination of the mobile phone of a social media influencer who was detained and arrested changed the course of the operation. The WhatsApp and Telegram messages found on the phone, which the suspect voluntarily surrendered, revealed a wide communication network related to drug procurement and trafficking.
Following this development, many figures from the art and media community came under scrutiny. Previously, numerous celebrities such as the Dilan–Engin Polat couple, İrem Derici, Deren and Derin Talu, Kubilay Aka, and Kaan Yıldırım had been called in for questioning. It was learned that most of the celebrities had clean test results, while a few who tested positive cited their prescribed medications as justification. Among these individuals were names like Duygu Özaslan Mutaf, Demet Evgar, Zeynep Meriç Aral, Ceren Moray, Hadise, and Özge Özpirinçci.
THE INVESTIGATION REACHED THE MEDIA WORLD
According to a report in Sabah, with the detailing of digital evidence, the last link of the operation jumped to the media world last week. Television presenters Ela Rumeysa Cebeci, Hande Sarıoğlu, and Meltem Acet were called in for questioning on charges of "using drugs or stimulants."
All three presenters completed the questioning process in accordance with procedures by providing blood and hair samples at the Forensic Medicine Institution. After the procedures against them, Cebeci, Sarıoğlu, and Acet were released.
