The British female guard who engaged in a sexual relationship with a male prisoner is facing a life sentence.

English prison officer Linda De Sousa Abreu (30) was caught having sexual intercourse with a prisoner at Wandsworth Prison in London and admitted to the charge of misconduct in a public office.

According to BBC, the incident, which took place on June 27, was recorded by another prisoner and spread on social media. Prosecutors stated that Abreu, who had an online account selling explicit content, intentionally filmed a pornographic video with Linton Weirich, who was imprisoned for luxury goods theft.

Prosecutor Tetteh Turkson said, "De Sousa clearly engaged in sexual intercourse with the prisoner willingly and thought she could escape responsibility. This is a shocking violation of public trust."

Abreu pleaded guilty to the charge of misconduct in a public office, which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. She was released on conditional bail and will appear in court again on November 7.

Abreu, who is married and has children, was arrested following a police investigation. The woman, who holds a Portuguese passport, was caught at Heathrow Airport while trying to flee to Madrid after telling her employers that she would not return to work.
