Search efforts continue for Huriye Helvacı (43) and her son Osman Yaşar Helvacı (5), who have been missing for 4 days in the Bozkurt district of Kastamonu. Huriye Helvacı's brother, Hüseyin Hıra, stated, "She left saying she was going to the market. She hasn't taken her medication lately, I think. She may have psychological issues."
MISSING MOTHER AND SON ARE BEING SEARCHED FOR EVERYWHERE
Relatives of Huriye Helvacı and her son Osman Helvacı, who live in the Meteorology TOKİ Housing in Bozkurt district and left their home 4 days ago, reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center after not hearing from them. Following the report, AFAD, UMKE, gendarmerie, police, and commando units were dispatched to the area. Volunteers are also supporting the search efforts. Red Crescent teams have deployed a catering vehicle in the region.
STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR OF KASTAMONU
Kastamonu Governor Meftun Dallı stated that the search efforts are ongoing, saying, "Currently, we have 4 gendarmerie security teams, 2 police teams, 1 gendarmerie search and rescue team, and 4 dogs on duty. We also have 3 gendarmerie security commando teams supported by drones. There is a 40-person team from AFAD with drone support, but a total of 104 public personnel are participating in the search efforts. There are also local people from the region. Together with them, about 200 people are currently continuing this search operation in the area," he said.
"OUR HOPE IS THAT SHE IS HIDING IN A HOUSE"
Governor Dallı mentioned that the conditions in the area where the search activities are taking place are difficult, stating, "Our hope is that this poor woman is hiding in a house with her child. We have informed all the village heads and citizens in the villages. Our friends have provided the necessary information. We hope that they will report any movement, light, or anything they see; we have that hope as well. We are evaluating every possibility, to be honest. We are constantly checking all our terminals. Our friends are reviewing the camera footage. Considering the possibility that they may have left the province, they are obtaining information from travel companies every day. We are using every technical means at our disposal. Our only wish is for this lady and her 5-year-old child to be found without any harm; we are praying for that," he expressed.
SISTER OF THE MISSING WOMAN: SHE DIDN'T GO MUSHROOMING
Huriye Helvacı's brother, Hüseyin Hıra, stated, "She left saying she was going to the market. She left in normal clothes; she didn't go mushrooming or anything. Those who saw her here thought she was going mushrooming and didn't do anything. Everyone is picking mushrooms in the forest right now. They didn't suspect anyone. She didn't go to a forested area while saying she was going to the market. The last sighting was on the cameras here. No one else has seen her. Our village head saw her here. The child's shoes were dirty, and he wiped them. We have no information on where she went from there," he explained.
"THERE ARE TWO SUSPECTS"
Hıra noted that his sister was using psychiatric medication, stating, "I think she hasn't taken her medication lately. She may have psychological issues. If she encountered an animal in the forest, she might have been scared. I mean, I am afraid to go from here to there in the dark at night. She left around 5:00 PM. No one can go anywhere in that darkness from here. There are suspects; these are my brother-in-law's ex-brother-in-law; he is divorced, and he is a suspect. There is also another person whom I do not know," he said.
