The bus driver involved in the chain traffic accident on the Tarsus-Adana-Gaziantep (TAG) Highway in Mersin, where 10 people died and 40 others were injured, has been arrested. The driver claimed in his statement that he was driving at a speed of 110 kilometers per hour and that the road was slippery due to rain. It was learned that the driver, who said he suddenly lost control, said, "I don't understand how the accident happened."
In Mersin, the driver of the passenger bus involved in a chain traffic accident in which 10 people died and 40 people, including himself, were injured on the Tarsus-Adana-Gaziantep (TAG) Highway, has been arrested.
The autopsies of the 10 people who lost their lives in the accident that occurred yesterday evening in the Yenice Mahallesi area of the TAG Highway have been completed. It was determined that the deceased were Ozan Kılıç, Serhat Taraman, Elif Taraman, İpek Taraman, Birsen Çiftsüren, Mehmet Kaplan, Halil Şimşek, Taha Acet, Sultan Acet, and Ayla Çelik Teymen.
8 PEOPLE IN CRITICAL CONDITION
Of the 40 injured in the accident, 13 are being treated at Tarsus State Hospital, 7 at Mersin City, Education and Research Hospital, 14 at Adana City, Education and Research Hospital, 3 at Çukurova State Hospital, and 2 at a private hospital in Tarsus. It was stated that 8 of the injured are in critical condition.
THE BUS DRIVER WAS ARRESTED
The driver of the Star Diyarbakır company's passenger bus with license plate number 34 SD 8821, which was involved in the accident, was discharged from the private hospital in Tarsus after receiving treatment. The suspect, who was taken into custody by gendarmerie teams, was arrested by the duty judge at the courthouse after the procedures.

WHAT HAPPENED?
In the Yenice Mahallesi area of the TAG Highway, the passenger bus with license plate number 34 SD 8821 belonging to Star Diyarbakır company collided with 2 cars and 1 truck by crossing into the opposite lane, and then another accident occurred in the same area. In the first accident, 10 people died and 34 people were injured, and in the other accident, 6 people were injured. After the accident, traffic was disrupted on the highway for a long time, but it returned to normal after the vehicles were removed.
