A fig business located in Aydın's İncirliova district reportedly went bankrupt shortly after its exported products were returned from EU countries. The business owners packed their belongings and left the establishment on Friday evening. Creditors, upon hearing about the bankruptcy, gathered at the facility's door. 280 WORKERS WERE EMPLOYEDAccording to the information received, approximately 280 workers were employed at the fig business located in Erbeyli Neighborhood. The business owner processed figs obtained from many fig traders and producers at this facility and exported them abroad. Allegedly, the figs sent to European Union countries were returned to Turkey after aflatoxin was detected. COULD NOT PAY EMPLOYEES' SALARIESAfter a while, the fig business in Aydın could not pay the employees' salaries. Except for 65 workers, the other 215 out of 280 workers quit their jobs. The operator of the facility, where the working employees had not received their salaries for about 3 months, could not withstand the economic crisis any longer and declared bankruptcy. THE OPERATOR FLED, CREDITORS CAME TO THE DOORAllegedly, the facility operator gathered all his belongings on Friday evening and did not return to the business. Upon hearing this, creditors attempted to enter the facility yesterday. The security guard at the fig business realized he could not single-handedly prevent the creditors from entering and called the gendarmerie for help. A large number of gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. The gendarmerie teams, who removed the creditors from the area, kept watch throughout the night.
