Joanna Rubinstein, a senior official at the UN Refugee Agency, resigned from her position after her name appeared in files linked to Jeffrey Epstein, it was revealed that Epstein visited his island with children, and a message he sent after the visit stating, "Thank you very much. The children loved your stories and of course your island," was included in the files.
Danish senior UN refugee agency executive Joanna Rubinstein announced her resignation following the emergence of documents linked to a US sex offender. According to reports in Norwegian media, Rubinstein's name appeared in emails and documents related to the Epstein files, leading to her decision to resign.
"THE CHILDREN LOVED YOUR STORIES AND THE ISLAND"
The documents state that Rubinstein visited Epstein's private island in 2012 and went there with her children. It was noted that after the visit, Rubinstein sent an email to Epstein saying, "Thank you very much. The children loved your stories and of course your island," praising her experience on the island. At that time, Epstein was already a convicted sex offender, and Little St. James Island later became one of the centers of the allegations.
"I FEEL A DEEP DISCOMFORT"
Reports in the foreign press regarding Rubinstein emphasize that the visit in question occurred only once and a long time ago. According to her statements, she indicated that she was largely aware of the conviction regarding Epstein and subsequent allegations, but after learning the extent of what had happened, she expressed that she felt a "deep discomfort."
Rubinstein was known as a figure with international experience in refugee rights, child protection, and sustainable development; she had also participated in many global initiatives and played an active role in efforts to combat sexual abuse against children.
