News has emerged that the Central District Chairman of the Welfare Party in Sivas, Bekir Bozkaya, and 220 members have resigned. Bozkaya stated that the reason for the resignation was due to the Provincial Chairman, Fatih Kalkan, not sending iftar meals to the ballot box officials on election day and saying "Let them eat dirt, let them die". The Sivas Provincial Presidency of the Welfare Party denied the news, stating that the person claiming to be the Central District Chairman is not our Central District Chairman. The news is unfounded.
The Central District Chairman of the Welfare Party, Bekir Bozkaya, announced that he and 220 members have resigned from their party. Bozkaya's resignation statement also drew attention to the allegations against the Provincial Chairman of the Welfare Party, Fatih Kalkan.

A resignation earthquake occurred in the Welfare Party, which received 3.10% of the votes in the Local Elections on March 31st in Sivas. Bekir Bozkaya, the Central District Chairman of the Welfare Party, announced his resignation and criticized the attitude and actions of Provincial Chairman Fatih Kalkan throughout the process. Bozkaya said, "In order to maintain his own hegemony and to sustain his existence within a vicious cycle, Kalkan did not bring people with more influence and power than himself into the party."

Bozkaya stated that the words of the Provincial Chairman towards the ballot box officials had an impact on their resignations and said, "During this process, as the central district chairman, along with me, the 220 people we brought into our party are also resigning from their positions in reaction to Provincial Chairman Fatih Kalkan. The fact that he did not send iftar meals to the ballot box officials while we were waiting for the results at the party headquarters on election day, and on top of that, his words 'Let them rot' had a great impact."
Bozkaya also stated that approximately 400 ballot box officials resigned due to not being provided with iftar meals on election day and said, "It is not possible for us to work in the team of a provincial chairman who did not even have the decency to come out and apologize. Serving our esteemed fellow citizens is our duty, and I promise to continue serving in front of our valuable people."
