Dr. İsmail Bozkurt, the chief physician of the American Hospital, suddenly collapsed while walking on the street. It was reported that the 59-year-old chief physician did not have any known health issues.
The Chief Physician and Responsible Manager of the American Hospital, Dr. İsmail Bozkurt (59), suddenly collapsed while walking near his home in the Etiler area of Istanbul in the morning hours. It was learned that Bozkurt passed away at the scene. His sudden death caused great sorrow at the American Hospital and Koç Health Group. The chief physician, who had no known illnesses, was known for his regular exercise and meticulousness regarding food choices.
CONDOLENCE MESSAGE FROM ARMAĞAN ÇAĞLAYAN
Television producer Armağan Çağlayan published a condolence message on his social media account. Saying, "I think I am going through the worst times of my life," Çağlayan used the following expressions in his message:
"My close friends are leaving me one by one. First Metin, now İsmail. Both had heart attacks. İsmail Bozkurt, the chief physician of the American Hospital. My childhood friend. İsmail, who eats healthily, does not drink or smoke, and walks kilometers every day. He said goodbye to life and us during his morning walk. Tough times. Rest in peace, my friend… May your resting place be gentle..."
WHO IS İSMAİL BOZKURT?
Dr. İsmail Bozkurt, born in Esslingen, Germany, had been serving as the chief physician and responsible manager of the American Hospital since 2014.
After graduating from St. Georg Austrian High School in Istanbul (1984), he studied medicine at the University of Vienna. After graduating in 1993, he completed his specialization training in family medicine at Şişli Etfal Hospital in Istanbul (1996). In 2015, he also received a master's degree in hospital management and quality in healthcare from Berlin University.
Dr. Bozkurt started working at the American Hospital as a family medicine specialist in 2001, was appointed as the deputy responsible manager in 2011, became the continuous quality improvement manager in 2013, and took on the roles of chief physician and responsible manager in 2014.
