In Izmir, it is claimed that a student fell from a height of 8 meters after being dangled out of a window by his friends under the guise of a "joke." The 15-year-old student, who suffered a fractured arm and narrowly escaped death, underwent surgery, and an investigation has been initiated regarding the incident.
On September 11, Thursday, around 15:00, a horrifying incident occurred at Atatürk Sports High School located in the 29 Ekim neighborhood of Buca district in İzmir. A 9th-grade student, S.K. (15), allegedly fell onto the gas concrete in front of the window after being pushed by his classmate S.E.S. while they were joking around.
FELL FROM A HEIGHT OF 8 METERS S.K., who was trapped there, fell onto a table in the garden from a height of approximately 8 meters after the gas concrete he stepped on collapsed while trying to get inside. The students who witnessed the incident experienced great panic. S.K. was taken to the hospital by ambulance, where it was determined that he had a comminuted fracture in his arm. S.K. underwent surgery and was discharged.
"HE DIDN'T EVEN APOLOGIZE" 15-year-old S.K. recounted his experience, stating that his friend S.E.S. did not apologize to him. S.K. said, "I had gone to sit next to my girlfriend, and I was sitting by the window. My friend pushed me by my feet as a joke, and I fell onto a roof-like structure. He closed the window, and when I asked him to open it, he didn't. While trying to get in through the other window, the gas concrete I stepped on broke, and I fell down. I fell onto the table; if I had fallen onto the bench or the concrete, worse things could have happened. That friend didn't come to me; later, he wrote to me on social media, saying, 'Don't file a complaint,' but we will file a complaint, and he didn't even apologize," he expressed.
"MY NEPHEW COULD HAVE DIED" Zehra Külcüler, who described how her nephew S.K. escaped death, also noted that no one from the other side contacted them after the incident. Külcüler said, "I am Sami's aunt. His father called the school. His father called me directly. I quickly went to the school. I saw that the gendarmerie was waiting for me. I was already surprised, wondering what they said. The principal said, 'It's a minor accident.' Then I came and saw him being brought down by ambulance. We went to Seyfi Demirsoy Hospital. We learned that he had a comminuted fracture in his arm. There was bone fragmentation. He had surgery because of that. During this process, no one from that child's family came to us. They haven't called us since that day. Later, when they heard that I would file a complaint, they called. When they called, I said, 'We'll see each other in court.' Right now, my nephew could have died. We filed a complaint. Then my brother withdrew it so that the child wouldn't go to juvenile detention. But we didn't know that the child would undergo such a major surgery. I said we would withdraw our statement. But since the other side didn't contact us, we will file a complaint," she stated.
CLAIMS OF NEGLIGENCE FROM THE AUNT After the incident, Külcüler held both the school administration and the student responsible, stating, "I have already spoken with my lawyer. Necessary actions will be taken. Why was there no security at the school? And why was there no protective railing? Why was there no net? These are things that should be in the school. This is not a fight. The child was sitting, and his friend grabbed his foot and threw him. This can't even be a joke. Apparently, the friend had an intention against Sami. They are close friends. Someone who does this could do it to another child tomorrow." she said.
While an investigation was initiated by the gendarmerie regarding the incident, it was learned that S.E.S., who was alleged to have pushed S.K., was taken to the police station to give a statement.
