CHP General Chairman Özgür Özel visited the CHP mayors who are detained at the Marmara Closed Prison in Silivri.
ÖZGÜR ÖZEL'S CLAIM THAT WILL CREATE AGENDA After the visit, Özel made statements to the press, making a claim that would create an agenda regarding Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu, who was arrested last night and dismissed today by the decision of the Ministry of Interior.
"MHP PROVINCIAL VICE CHAIRMAN IS CALLING IN THE EVENING" Özel said, "Mr. Hasan Mutlu is being called by an MHP Provincial Vice Chairman on Thursday evening. During this conversation, Hasan Bey's wife is also listening on the speakerphone. On Friday morning, someone from the AK Party provincial administration calls. They say, 'They will take you tomorrow; if you join the AK Party, the operation will stop.' They call Hasan Mutlu 24 hours in advance and say, 'An operation is coming.' Hasan Mutlu also tells this to the prosecutor. Is this a rule of law, friends? I mean, 'Either you will join the AK Party, or you will be sent to Silivri.'
"I WILL NOT SELL MY PARTY OUT OF FEAR OF PRISON" How did it work in Aydın, how did it work in Yalova? The system did not work in Bayrampaşa. His answer is this; 'I will not sell my party out of fear of prison.' The legal bird will now come out and say, 'The judiciary is independent in Turkey.' We are facing political pickpocketing. The nation will now bring down the government from both its sight and its heart," he stated.
Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu. MAYOR MUTLU WAS ARRESTED LAST NIGHT As part of the investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding 'embezzlement', 'bribery', 'qualified fraud', and 'interfering with a tender' against Bayrampaşa Municipality, 26 suspects, including Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu, were arrested.
DISMISSED BY MINISTRY DECISION In a statement made by the Ministry of Interior, it was stated, "Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu has been suspended from duty by the Ministry of Interior due to the investigation conducted against him for the crimes of 'receiving bribes, interfering with the tenders of public institutions and organizations, and embezzlement' following his arrest."
INVESTIGATION STARTED UPON THE COMPLAINT OF A EARTHQUAKE VICTIM On the other hand, it was learned that the investigation was initiated upon the complaint of an earthquake victim who claimed that he was asked for a bribe. The complainant, a cafe operator, stated, "I am from Hatay, and after the earthquake, I returned to Bayrampaşa. I told the mayor that I wanted to open a cafe, and I got approval. They directed me to the deputy mayor. They told me that it would be tendered to a company and delivered to me. I spent about 2.5 million lira. However, I was constantly delayed during the process. They asked me for 3 million lira and a 25% partnership. When I didn't give it, the cafe was sealed. I made this investment trusting the promises made," it was learned. Teams that started working upon the complaint determined that the earthquake victim was delayed in legal proceedings, and after an investment of approximately 2.5 million lira, a bribe of 3 million lira was requested for the opening of the cafe. They also found that there were pressures for 25% of the cafe to be given to Hasan Mutlu. In the investigation file against him, it was alleged that Mutlu had taken the name rights of "MİS'S Cafe" for himself and that he had also committed irregularities regarding the sports facilities in Hasbahçe. It was claimed that the company that operated the facilities was removed after the municipality change, the entrance was dug up and closed with construction machinery, and the door was locked.
ALLEGATIONS REGARDING PERSONAL LIFE The prepared file also included allegations regarding Mutlu's personal life. It was alleged that he had relationships with three women, one of whom he employed at the municipality, promised to open a hairdresser for another, and appointed a married woman as the facility manager. When asked about his relationships with women, Hasan Mutlu stated that he "knew" them but did not go into further detail. Regarding the money traffic, he used the term "informal consultancy." As for the tenders, he defended himself by saying, "I am not a commission member."
