A child abduction case that occurred in Oakland, California in 1951 has surprisingly been resolved 73 years later. Luis Armando Albino, who was abducted from a park at the age of 6, is now 79 years old and has reunited with his family thanks to the tireless efforts of his niece. On February 21, 1951, while playing in a park in West Oakland with his 10-year-old brother Roger, Luis was lured away and abducted by a woman. Taken to the East Coast, Luis was adopted and raised by a couple in New York City. Luis's mother never lost hope of finding her son, but she passed away at the age of 92 in 2005 without ever learning his fate. Years later, Luis's niece Alida Alequin managed to locate her uncle using DNA testing and newspaper clippings. With the help of the Department of Justice, the FBI, and local police, Alida tracked down Luis. Luis's life continued after his abduction; he became a firefighter, served in Vietnam, and even became a father and grandfather. After 73 years, Luis and his now 83-year-old brother Roger finally reunited. Unfortunately, Roger passed away shortly after due to cancer, but he died with the peace of having seen his brother. Alida said, "My grandmother always believed he was alive. She carried that hope to her grave." She added, "I am very happy to have been able to do this for our family. It was a very happy ending." Although the FBI has closed the missing person case, the abduction incident is still under investigation. There are still unanswered questions about the circumstances of Luis's abduction and his life in New York. This extraordinary story demonstrates the power of hope and determination. Alida's final words inspire other families: "Never give up."
