At the beginning of July, the increase in the Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) rates was reflected in cigarette prices as well. Starting from today, there has been a 5 TL increase in cigarette prices. The most expensive cigarette now costs 96 TL, while the cheapest is 80 TL.

After the announcement of June inflation, the expected tax increases have come into effect. The Revenue Administration (GİB) under the Ministry of Treasury and Finance announced that there has been a 15.71% increase in the Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) on fuel, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products. This increase has also directly reflected on cigarette prices.
A 5 LIRA INCREASE HAS ARRIVED
The price increases that began to be discussed in the first days of July have come into effect as of today. There has been a 5 TL increase in cigarette prices. Erol Dündar, the President of the Association of Tobacco Retailers (TBYD), stated that prices have significantly increased in one group of cigarettes.
THE CHEAPEST CIGARETTE IS 80 TL
After the increase, the cheapest cigarettes in that group are priced at 80 TL, while the most expensive ones are 96 TL on the shelves. Dündar expressed that this increase is due to the ÖTV update in July, stating that the new prices have been valid since Friday, July 4.
