It has been claimed that the decision regarding 7 defendants who were sentenced in the case related to the attack carried out by ISIS militants at Atatürk Airport, which resulted in the death of 45 people, was overturned by the Court of Cassation. In a report by Alican Uludağ from NOW TV, it was alleged that the release of 5 of the 6 defendants who received 46 times aggravated life imprisonment and 2,604 years in prison, as well as 1 defendant who was sentenced to 12 years, was also decided. The news in question quickly became a topic of discussion. STATEMENT FROM DMMRegarding the issue, the Presidential Disinformation Combat Center made a statement. In the statement, it was noted that 6 defendants had been detained for 8 years and that they were not the perpetrators of the attack. The following statements were made by DMM: "It has been determined that the news stating, 'Members of the terrorist organization ISIS were released in the case where 45 people were murdered at Atatürk Airport' published in some media outlets has caused distortions. These news articles have led to a perception in the public that 'the perpetrators of the terrorist attack have been released.' However, the 6 defendants in question have been detained for 8 years and are not the perpetrators of the attack. These individuals are being tried for crimes such as membership in the organization and financing the organization. Since the duration of their detention regarding the charges against the 6 defendants may meet the potential sentences they will receive, their release has been decided. Do not give credence to unfounded claims."
