In an operation conducted in 10 provinces centered in Istanbul, 32 people were detained on the grounds that some club officials from Antalyaspor, Adana Demirspor, Bodrumspor, Göztepe, Giresunspor, Konyaspor, Alanyaspor, Denizlispor, Kocaelispor, Gençlerbirliği, and Sivasspor placed bets in favor of their opponents in their teams' matches, while 1 suspect is being sought.
Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, known to the public as the "betting-match-fixing" investigation, an operation was carried out against some club executives working in professional leagues.
ALLEGATION OF BETTING IN FAVOR OF THE OPPONENT
According to the statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an operation was initiated after it was determined that some club executives had betting accounts and had placed bets in favor of the opposing team in the matches played by the team they managed.
In this context, simultaneous operations were carried out at 33 addresses in 10 different provinces centered in Istanbul on the grounds that the suspects violated Article 11 of Law No. 6222 on the Prevention of Violence and Disorder in Sports.
32 PEOPLE IN CUSTODY, 1 FUGITIVE
While search and seizure operations were conducted during the operations, a detention order was issued for 33 suspects. It was learned that 32 suspects were taken into custody, while efforts to capture 1 suspect were ongoing.
SOME CLUB EXECUTIVES ON THE LIST
According to the news by Çağdaş Evren Şenlik: it was reported that among those detained were some executives who were stated to have served in Antalyaspor, Adana Demirspor, Bodrumspor, Göztepe, Giresunspor, Konyaspor, Alanyaspor, Denizlispor, Kocaelispor, Gençlerbirliği, and Sivasspor. The investigation is continuing in a multifaceted manner.
